Some of the quotes I've seen online are pretty, pretty pricey... AHHH. Do we have to serve cake?
The answer is NO. I know we don't have to do anything specific or traditional. In fact I'm an Irish person getting married in an Italian community so we're serving homemade cannoli's for dessert (YUM). However cutting a cake still seems fun, hence why I'm in this conundrum in the first place. Also, cake is good.
Local St. Louisians! Listed below are a few of the local bakeries my fiance and I are trying out this month! I'll report back after our tastings but here are some of my initial thoughts.
This is one of our absolute favorite dessert restaurants. I envision a three-tier layer cake with completely different flavors each layer and maybe that's crazy. I'm a chocolate lover but less so on a cake basis. I love fruit flavors, like a lemon, raspberry or strawberry. I've messaged them to meet with their executive chef.
Favorites: Lemon raspberry cake, fruit tarts, boysenberry cake, chocolate madelines
Amazing meals, drinks and desserts await you at Cyrano's. We're not even sure they do wedding cakes BUT can't help but see.
Favorites: Bread pudding, tilapia, chocolate martini, mint hot chocolate
This would probably be the most nontraditional option because they don't do layered cakes. Instead their smaller single cakes that look incredibly luscious, silky and delicious. We are meeting to have our tasting next week and cannot wait!
Favorites: Everything, you really can't go wrong. Their macarons are the best I've had in STL. The chocolate croissants are up there too
Out of these five, this is a place we're most unfamiliar with but have heard so many awesome things we have to check it out. Will report back.
While we haven't visited this bakery yet, we have had their cake at local restaurants around the area. Our favorite is their chocolate hazelnut served at Dewey's. Unfortunately we're unsure if they sell that particular cake at the bakery. Fingers crossed.
